1D or 2D: which Honeywell scanner do you need?
1D scanners (such as the Voyager 1250g laser) read the standard linear barcodes printed on retail products. They are fast, affordable and ideal if you only scan conventional printed barcodes.
2D scanners (the Xenon, and 2D Voyager, Genesis and Orbit models) read everything a 1D scanner does, plus QR Codes, PDF417, Data Matrix and barcodes shown on a customer's phone, such as loyalty cards, e-tickets and mobile vouchers. If you accept mobile coupons or scan from screens, choose 2D. Most modern setups now use 2D imagers.
Corded or cordless (Bluetooth)?
Corded scanners plug straight into your POS or PC and never need charging, perfect for a fixed counter. Cordless / Bluetooth scanners (Voyager 1472g, Xenon 1952g, Granit 1991i, the pocketable Voyager 1602g) let staff scan away from the till, around bulky items and down the aisle, returning to a charging cradle between scans.
