A compact handheld imager that reads the barcodes other scanners argue with: wrinkled, dirty, curved, tiny or glowing on a phone screen. Choose USB or RS232, black or white, with or without the Smart Stand.

The Cino A670 is the company's deluxe compact 2D handheld, and it is aimed squarely at the gap between a cheap imager that stalls on difficult codes and a premium scanner that costs three times as much. Behind the window is a 1120 x 768 pixel sensor running Cino's FuzzyScan imaging, which is built to decode barcodes that are wrinkled, dirty, soiled, printed on plastic or metal, wrapped around a curve, or displayed on a screen. Minimum resolution is 3.0 mil on Code 39 and 5.0 mil on Data Matrix, and motion tolerance runs to 370 cm/s, so the read lands while the item is still moving.
It is built to be dropped. Cino rates the enclosure for multiple falls from 1.8 metres onto concrete and seals it to IP52, in a body that weighs 130 grams without its cable and measures 97 x 65 x 156 mm. Three LEDs, a programmable beeper with adjustable volume and tone, and an optional vibrate function cover feedback in both quiet and noisy rooms. Cino's FuzzyScan DNA features come at no extra cost: iCode for one-scan configuration, DataWizard Premium for reformatting data before it reaches your software, Multilingual Edge, Smart Scene presets and Security Plus. Sold and supported in Australia by POS PLAZA on 1300 115 808.
FuzzyScan imaging on a 1120 x 768 sensor, built to decode wrinkled, dirty or soiled codes on paper, plastic, metal, curved surfaces and screens.
A minimum resolution of 3.0 mil on Code 39 and 5.0 mil on Data Matrix, which covers the small dense codes on pharmacy packs and electronic components.
Motion tolerance to 370 cm/s, so the read lands while the operator is still sweeping the item past rather than holding it still over the window.
Roll a full 360 degrees, pitch plus or minus 75 and skew plus or minus 65, so the code does not have to be presented square to the window.
Rated for multiple 1.8 metre drops onto concrete and sealed to IP52, in a 130 gram body that staff can hold through a long shift.
Three status LEDs, a programmable beeper with adjustable volume and tone, and an optional vibrate function for quiet rooms or loud ones.
Point and shoot scanning at a till, with a warm white illumination that is easier on the eye than a hard white LED, and an ivory white body option for lighter fit-outs.
Reading vouchers and member cards off phone screens, where a 2D imager works and a laser scanner cannot read a lit display at all.
Goods in, stocktakes and dispatch, where the drop rating and the motion tolerance matter more than the lowest possible price.
Two of the five versions ship with the Cino Smart Stand, and it is worth understanding what that adds before you choose. The stand is not just a holder. Dropping the scanner into it switches the A670 automatically into presentation mode, so it reads whatever is passed in front of it without anyone pulling a trigger. Lift it out and it reverts to ordinary trigger scanning for bulky stock or shelf work.
That matters on a counter that alternates between the two all day: a queue of small items is faster presented, while a carton or an awkward shape is easier scanned in the hand. Buying the kit version is the cheaper route to both, and there is one part number on the invoice rather than two.

| Version | Interface | Colour | Smart Stand | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| USB, Black | USB HID, VCOM or OEM POS | Classic Black | No | The default choice for a modern till, scanned in the hand |
| USB, Black with Smart Stand | USB HID, VCOM or OEM POS | Classic Black | Yes | Counters that want hands free presentation and trigger scanning from one unit |
| USB, White | USB HID, VCOM or OEM POS | Ivory White | No | Lighter fit-outs, pharmacy, medical and hospitality counters |
| RS232, Black | Standard RS232 serial | Classic Black | No | Hosts with a genuine serial port and software that expects one |
| RS232, Black with Smart Stand | Standard RS232 serial | Classic Black | Yes | Serial hosts that also want hands free presentation scanning |
USB suits almost every current till. Order RS232 only if the host has a real serial port, and ask us about the 5V DC power supply unit, because a serial port does not power the scanner the way USB does.
The Smart Stand versions are a separate part number rather than an accessory added later, and they cost less than buying the two pieces apart.
Classic Black suits most counters. Ivory White is available on the USB version and tends to suit pharmacy, medical and lighter hospitality fit-outs.
Pick the interface first. USB covers almost every modern till and behaves as a keyboard out of the box, so the decoded barcode is typed into whatever field has focus. Choose RS232 only if your host genuinely has a serial port and your software expects it. Then decide whether you want the Smart Stand, and whether black or ivory white suits the counter.
It holds the scanner at a fixed angle and switches it automatically into hands-free presentation mode when the scanner is dropped into the cradle, then back to trigger scanning when it is lifted out. That gives you both working styles from one purchase, which is the reason the kit versions exist.
Yes. The A670 is an imager, not a laser, and Cino specifies it for codes shown on digital screens as well as on paper, plastic, metal and curved surfaces. That is what you need for emailed vouchers, loyalty passes and click and collect codes.
Down to 3.0 mil on Code 39 and 5.0 mil on Data Matrix. Mil is the width of the narrowest bar in thousandths of an inch, so a 3 mil rating covers the dense codes printed on pharmaceutical packaging, electronic components and jewellery tags.
Cino rates it for multiple 1.8 metre drops onto concrete and seals it to IP52, which covers dust and dripping water. That is a retail and hospitality rating rather than a washdown or industrial one, and it is well above what a budget imager usually offers.
Serial scanners usually do, because a 9 pin serial port does not supply power the way a USB port does. Cino lists a 5V DC 2A power supply unit among the A670 accessories. Tell us about your host when you order and we will confirm whether you need one.
Both are Cino features included at no extra cost. iCode is a single configuration barcode that applies a whole setup in one scan, which saves programming each unit by hand across a fleet. DataWizard Premium reformats and processes the scanned data before it reaches your software, so you can strip, add or rearrange characters without changing the host program.
In USB keyboard mode almost certainly, because the scanner simply types what it reads and needs no driver. USB VCOM and USB OEM POS are there for software that expects a serial port or a dedicated POS scanner class. Call POS PLAZA on 1300 115 808 with the name of your POS and we will confirm before you order.
A 60 Months Return to Base warranty, five years, which is what Cino puts behind its corded handheld scanners. Return to base means a faulty unit comes back to us for assessment and repair or replacement rather than an engineer attending site.
