These labels use a synthetic film facestock in place of paper. That is what makes them waterproof and tear-resistant, and what lets them shrug off oils, solvents, abrasion, UV and both heat and freezing while staying stuck and readable.
Thermal transfer is the print method, and the ribbon matters as much as the label: use resin or wax/resin so the image resists the same moisture and rubbing the facestock does. Wax alone does not bond properly to a synthetic face, and direct thermal printing does not work on it. The gloss face is sharper and more reflective than a standard matt synthetic, which lifts print contrast on customer-facing labels.
At 100mm (W) x 48mm (L) on a 25mm core, this size is commonly used for drum, chemical and GHS warning labels, carton and outer-packaging labels, outdoor asset and equipment tags, and cold-store or washdown environments. The 25mm core fits desktop thermal transfer printers such as Zebra, TSC, Brother and Datamax.
