They are made from a plastic specified for use in and around food, and are built to be wiped down and cleaned rather than thrown away. Yes. The Pronto 100 is a standard CR80 card printer, so the same machine prints staff ID badges, membership cards and loyalty cards on ordinary PVC card stock. Add a YMCKO colour ribbon if you want photo ID in full colour. Keep that colour film for ID work only, since it is not certified for food contact, and swap back to a monochrome ribbon before you print display tags.
The Pronto 100 connects over USB or Ethernet and installs with the Magicard driver, so it prints from standard Windows card design software. Ethernet is useful when the printer sits at the counter but the person designing the tags works elsewhere in the store.
