The Magicard Pronto 100 is Magicard's entry-level desktop ID card printer, and this listing is the Starter Kit: the printer itself, one YMCKO colour ribbon rated for 100 prints, and 100 blank white 0.76mm cards. That combination matters, because a card printer is useless on its own. Buy the machine alone and you still cannot print until ribbon and card stock arrive.
It is aimed squarely at organisations issuing their own cards for the first time: an office printing staff photo ID, a school or sporting club issuing student and member cards, a gym running its own loyalty programme. Setup is deliberately undemanding. Connect it to a Windows PC over USB, or put it on the network over Ethernet so several workstations can print to it, then install the Magicard driver, drop in the dye film cassette and print. There is no encoder to commission and no service call.
Magicard's HoloKote watermark is included at no extra cost, printing a repeating secure pattern across the card surface from a choice of designs. Clix adds remote printer management, and digital data shredding fragments each print job once it completes, so cardholder data does not sit on the device.

Card design software is separate: the printer will print from any Windows application, but most sites use dedicated badge software such as Card Studio Standard for photo capture, database links and templates. It takes Magicard dye film cassettes. A YMCKO colour ribbon prints full colour cards, and monochrome resin ribbons print single-colour text and barcodes at up to 1,000 cards per roll, which is far cheaper per card. POS PLAZA stocks the black and white 1,000-print monochrome ribbons, plus the full Magicard ribbon and accessory range.
No. The Pronto 100 is single-sided. If you need printing on both faces, you either flip and reprint the card manually, or move to a dual-sided model such as the Magicard 300 Dual-Sided. For most staff ID and membership work, a single-sided card with pre-printed information on the reverse is enough.
HoloKote is Magicard's built-in visual security feature. It prints a translucent repeating watermark across the card using the overlay panel of a colour ribbon, which makes a card visibly harder to copy or forge. It is included with the printer at no extra cost and is switched on from the driver, so there is no licence fee and no special card stock required.
Card printers pick up dust and card debris on the print head and rollers, which shows as fine lines on printed cards. Run a cleaning card through the printer regularly, at roughly every ribbon change. POS PLAZA stocks the Magicard Cleaning Card Kit with 10 cards and a cleaning pen.
Yes. Any standard CR80 card at 0.76mm will feed, including coloured PVC, adhesive-backed and rewritable stock. Printing white or metallic text on a dark card needs a monochrome resin ribbon in that colour rather than a YMCKO colour film, because dye sublimation cannot lay down white.
Not this one. The Starter Kit ships with a colour ribbon and plain white cards for general ID work. Food display tags need certified food-safe card stock and monochrome ribbons in white and black, which is what the Pronto 100 Food Safe Starter Kit Bundle contains. Note that only monochrome ribbons are certified food safe: no card printer manufacturer certifies a colour ribbon for food contact, so a YMCKO film is the wrong choice for anything going into a food display. Same printer, different consumables.
Clix is Magicard's remote management layer for the printer. It lets an administrator check printer and consumable status and manage users without standing at the machine, which is useful when the printer sits at a reception desk but IT sits elsewhere. It is built into the Pronto 100 rather than being an add-on purchase.
