The SUNMI FLEX 3 KDS is the kitchen build of the FLEX 3 platform, and it is a different machine from the counter version rather than the same screen with a label change. The body is aluminium alloy, rated IP55 against dust and water jets and tested by Sunmi at 70 degrees in oil bath conditions. It operates to 50 degrees ambient, ten above the standard model, which matters when a screen lives near a grill or above a pass. The 22 inch Full HD IPS panel runs at 400 nits behind an anti-fingerprint coating, and the touch layer is specified to work through gloves and to keep reading with oil or water sitting on the glass.
Behind the screen is a Qualcomm octa-core processor to 2.4GHz with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage running SUNMI OS 4.0 on Android 13, so the kitchen display application runs on the unit itself rather than on a box hidden under a bench. It takes 60W Power over Ethernet at full brightness, which means one cable to a screen on an arm, and mounts on a standard VESA 100 x 100 pattern. Two gigabit RJ45 ports, a serial port, two USB Type-A ports and two 3W speakers cover the rest. Backed by a 12 Months Return to Base warranty and supported in Australia by POS PLAZA on 1300 115 808.
Why choose the KDS build
Works with wet and gloved hands
The touch panel is specified to read through gloves and to keep working with oil or water sitting on the glass, which is the difference between a kitchen screen and an office one.
IP55 and a 70 degree oil bath
Rated IP55 against dust and water jets, in an aluminium alloy body Sunmi tests at 70C in oil bath conditions, so it survives the wipe-downs and the air above a fryer.
Runs to 50 degrees C
An operating ceiling of 50C, ten degrees above the standard FLEX 3. A screen mounted near a grill or a pass sits in air that an ordinary display is not rated for.
60W PoE at full brightness
One network cable carries data and power and still drives the panel at its full 400 nits, so a screen on an arm over the pass needs no power point behind it.
Mount it anywhere
VESA 100 x 100 for wall brackets and monitor arms, in a body 29.8 mm deep, which is what lets it go above a bench where there is no room for a terminal.
Android 13 with a real processor
SUNMI OS 4.0 on Android 13 with a Qualcomm octa-core to 2.4GHz, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, so the KDS software runs on the screen itself.
What it changes in the kitchen
The pass and the line
Orders arrive the moment they are rung up, sequenced automatically, with custom notes highlighted. Nobody walks a docket from the front counter to the kitchen, and nothing is lost between the two.
Split by section
Show the board by dish category or by workstation, so grill, fryer and cold larder each see their own work rather than every ticket on one screen.
Bump and notify
Marking an item complete can notify the front of house, which closes the loop on collection and keeps staff off the radio during a rush.

- Quick start guide
Before you order
Confirm the KDS app
This is hardware only. The kitchen display software comes from your point of sale platform, so check that your POS publishes an Android KDS app, or call us and we will check for you.
Decide the mount
Nothing is included. It takes a third-party VESA 100 x 100 wall bracket or monitor arm. Measure the position and allow for the cable run before the unit arrives.
Check your switch for PoE
Running it over one cable needs a PoE switch or injector with enough headroom for a 60W load. If the site is not PoE, plan a power outlet within reach of the 20V adapter instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the KDS different from the standard FLEX 3 display?
It is built for the back of house rather than the counter. The KDS build is rated IP55 instead of IP54, runs to 50C instead of 40C, uses an aluminium body Sunmi tests at 70C in oil bath conditions, and its touch panel is specified to work through gloves and with water or oil on the glass. It also drops the Micro USB expansion ports the counter version carries, because a kitchen screen is not hosting card readers and scanners.
Does it come with kitchen display software?
No. This is the hardware: an Android 13 terminal with a 22 inch touch screen. The KDS application comes from your point of sale platform, and most of the major packages publish an Android kitchen display app. Tell us which POS you run and we will confirm it before you order.
Can it really be used with gloves on?
Yes, that is a published specification rather than a general claim. Sunmi states the panel supports gloved touch and keeps operating with residual oil or water on the surface, which is why it suits a pass where staff are not going to stop and dry their hands.
What does 60W PoE get me?
One cable. The unit takes power and data from a single RJ45 run and still drives the screen at its full 400 nits, so a display on an arm above a bench does not need a power outlet nearby. You need a PoE capable switch or injector with the headroom to deliver it, and Sunmi's PoE module where the installation calls for it.
How do I mount it?
On a standard VESA 100 x 100 pattern, using a third-party wall bracket or monitor arm. Sunmi lists exactly that for the KDS: there is no bespoke stand in the range for it, which is normal for a kitchen screen that wants to be off the bench and out of the way.
Is the screen touch or just a display?
Touch. It is a capacitive multi-touch panel, which is what lets staff bump items and move tickets directly on the screen rather than using a bump bar. The anti-fingerprint coating is there because the glass gets handled constantly and wiped down often.
What is the warranty?
12 Months Return to Base. Return to base means a faulty unit comes back to us for assessment and repair or replacement rather than an engineer attending site. Call POS PLAZA on 1300 115 808 if you are rolling out several and want to talk about cover.
Will it survive over a fryer or a grill?
Within its rating. IP55 covers dust and water jets, the body is tested in 70C oil bath conditions, and it operates to 50C ambient. That is built for a working kitchen. It is not rated for direct heat, so mount it clear of the equipment rather than above the hot zone itself.
