That covers digital vouchers, loyalty and membership codes in a wallet app, e-tickets, and click-and-collect pick-up codes. A laser scanner cannot read a screen at all.

Nexa covers the BL-8080 for 36 Months Return to Base. The comparable Honeywell, Datalogic and Zebra presentation scanners we stock carry the same 36 month term on the same basis, so warranty is not the thing that separates them. Return to base means a failed unit comes back to us, we assess it, and it is repaired or replaced here rather than through an overseas returns process. If being left without a scanner is the worry, the answer is a spare unit on the shelf rather than a warranty clause.

All four are hands-free 2D presentation scanners that read 1D, 2D and phone screens, so for everyday retail scanning they do the same job. The Zebra DS9308 adds RS232, keyboard wedge and IBM 46XX interfaces plus a 1.5m drop rating, which suits harder environments and older host systems. The Datalogic Magellan 1500i adds Digimarc and a very compact footprint. The Honeywell Orbit HF6802D is the closest on price. The Nexa is the value pick; the others are the pick if you need their specific interfaces or ruggedness.

Yes. The BL-8080 supersedes both the Nexa BL-8060 and the BL-8070, which are now discontinued, and it is the direct replacement for either. It is the same desktop presentation format doing the same job, so it drops onto the counter in place of an older unit and connects the same way, over USB as a keyboard wedge with no driver. Because it presents as a keyboard, your POS does not need reconfiguring: it will read the new scanner exactly as it read the old one. It is also cheaper than either model it replaces and carries a longer 36 Months Return to Base warranty where those carried 24 months.

Almost certainly, without a driver. It presents to the computer as a USB keyboard, so a scanned barcode arrives exactly as if it had been typed. Any POS, spreadsheet or web form with a cursor in a field accepts it. If you need a suffix character or a particular symbology enabled, that is set by scanning configuration barcodes from the manual.
