The Element K22A is a 21.5 inch Android panel PC rather than a till. It is built for the screens around the edges of a venue: the kitchen display on the line, the self ordering post by the door, the check in screen at reception, the menu board above the counter. It runs Android 13 with Google Mobile Services under Google's EDLA licensing, so a commercial Android app installs the way it would on any certified device, and the panel is driven by a MediaTek MT8390 with 8GB of memory and 64GB of storage.
Two things make it suit those jobs better than a general purpose display. It is fanless, which means no moving parts to pull grease and flour through, a real consideration above a kitchen pass, and it is silent in a quiet dining room. And it can be powered over Ethernet, so a single cable can carry both data and power to a screen mounted somewhere awkward. The front is 7H hardness glass with a 16.16mm bezel and the whole unit is 37.9mm deep, so on a VESA 100 arm it sits close to flat against a wall.
The HDMI and audio ports on the K22A are not fitted as standard, they are a build option. For a kitchen display, a self ordering post or a signage panel that is usually irrelevant, because the application runs on the device itself. It is a panel PC, which means it is a screen with an Android computer behind it. It can run a POS app, but its natural jobs are the ones a till cannot do: a kitchen display system on the line, a self ordering or self checkout post, a check in screen, or a digital menu board. Those are the roles it is built for. If you want a staffed till with a cash drawer port and a receipt printer hanging off it, look at a dedicated POS terminal instead.
Two things. Reliability in dirty air, because a fan pulls airborne grease and flour straight through the electronics and a fanless unit has nothing drawing it in, which matters anywhere near a kitchen. And silence, which matters in a dining room or a waiting area where a fan whine is noticeable all day.
It takes either a 12V 90W external adaptor or Power over Ethernet, selectable at order. PoE means the screen takes both its data and its power from one cable, which is the difference between an easy install and running a new power circuit to a ceiling or a column. Confirm the PoE option with us when you order, and make sure your switch has the budget for it.
It runs Android 13 with Google Mobile Services under EDLA, which is Google's licensing programme for dedicated devices. In practice that means the Play Store and Google services are present and a commercial Android POS or KDS app installs normally. Check with your software vendor that they support a 21.5 inch landscape Android device, since some apps are laid out for tablets.
The touch version is 225 nits, with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 178 degree viewing angles both horizontally and vertically. That is a normal indoor brightness: fine for a kitchen, a counter or an interior wall, but not a high brightness panel built to fight direct sunlight through a shopfront window. If the screen faces a bright window, tell us and we will point you at something brighter.
